Credit Controller

We are looking for someone with at least 12+ months credit controller experience (or more if you have it), who will work well in a busy, long-standing team. You are confident, autonomous and not afraid to speak up. You will be able to see where a team is stretched and have the initiative to step-up where help is needed offering ideas and solutions.

You will have the ability to communicate at all levels including non-finance staff and provide good customer service of the highest standards and in line with company philosophy. Good prioritisation skills, with the ability to meet monthly deadlines and work accurately under pressure.

The Role
• Responsible for cash collection across advertising and live exhibition ledgers
• Ensuring prompt payment of up to £1m worth of invoices in any given month
• Monitoring accounts in query and raising concerns with the senior team to ensure bad debt risk is minimised
• Working closely with the commercial teams to ensure the company’s credit control procedures are understood and adhered to
• To deal with incoming customer correspondence in a timely fashion so that (a) customers are treated with priority and given the best possible service and (b) minimise any possible queries again, to prevent bad debt risk.
• To update data on SAGE regarding conversations with customers so that an adequate record is maintained if a query occurs later or, legal action must be taken against the customer
• To code cash with appropriate reference numbers so that cashiers know to which accounts to allocate the funds.
• To be able to assist in data input of sales ledger invoices and payments when needed

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good team player/member
• Good negotiation skills
• Good Excel skills. Knowledge of SAGE 200 is desirable but not essential
• Ability to work independently and interact regularly with the wider finance team but also the commercial teams in the business
