Our client is a company of wildlife lovers who offers customers the convenience of an online mail order outlet with the caring, helpful touch of a specialist shop. Their expertise lies in their passion for wildlife, providing only carefully selected natural food, the best habitats and an extremely high-quality range of accessories.

Assignment Overview:

The Company has undergone ongoing significant change and challenges due to COVID. As a result, the Company has significant HR challenges that need to be resolved and they are looking to engage and experienced HR professional on a project basis to support them with this. The key challenges are:

The level of business increased around 50% during the first lockdown.
There is a constant need for ongoing recruitment.
Training – review of processes and improvements
KPIs need to be introduced, monitored and acted upon.
There are ongoing plans for the business to move premises and expand.
The Managing Director and senior team are passionate about the business and in providing excellence for their customers. They want to encourage the same level of pride in every member of the team.

The Assignment will specifically involve:

Recruitment

Identifying how best to fill vacancies, offering new ideas and suggestions, where appropriate.
Sourcing strong candidates whether via advertising, agencies or other means.
Conducting all first interviews.
All administration regarding recruitment.
Making recommendations to improve the recruitment process to the senior team for future appointments.
Induction and Training

Improving the induction process for new joiners.
Ensuring that the process is being conducted effectively and in full, identifying any areas for improvement.
Establishing where training gaps exist in current staff and taking steps to resolve these.
Encouraging the progression and career development of all staff.
Introducing KPIs

In conjunction with the Operations Manager, clarify the structure of the organisation and individual roles and responsibilities within it.
Identifying KPIs for all roles.
Putting in place a process for monitoring and reviewing individual KPIs.
Guiding the Operations Manager in addressing any performance issues.
Setting a clear plan in place as to how to implement future change and developments.

Terms

This assignment is currently expected to last 3-6 months, circa 15 hrs/week and the salary on offer is circa £50k fte pro rata for hours worked.

Based on site at Hitchin

Holiday – 28 days pro rata for hours worked (including bank holiday)

*Full time equivalent salary – actual salary will depend on hours worked
